Crime drama review - midsummer murders
Midsummer murders is set in the small village of Midsummer, which is nothing like it seems. Behind all the picturesque cottages and well trimmed hedges, there are dark secrets, scandals and downright evil. In midsummer murders they solve the crimes by talking to witnesses and all the people in the villages who knew te victim, they interrogate the suspects, they occasionally use forensics and they think about who would have any motives to do the murders.
The main character DI Barnaby is very much the good guy sort of cop, he is very relaxed and subtle. He thinks things through thoroughly and lets his partner do all the dirty work like the chases and violence.

Crime drama review - Scott and Bailey
Scott and bailey is a crime where the main characters are best friends janet scott and rachel bailey.the unique aspect of this crime drama is that the main characters are both women which is not usual for a typical crime drama.the show is based to the two women who are on the major incident team headed by another key character DCI Jill Murray. The show revolves around the personal and professional lives of the main characters.
This episode focuses on the killing and burning of two men. And the breakdown in Janet's marriage and the exposing of Rachel's family secrets.
But they manage to keep a line between work and marriage.

Whitechaple
White chapel is about the reoccurrence of past time killings that are now taking place today in the town of white chapel.this episode they are looking at the murders of teenagers, they think that the suspect is 'mad mantis'.
He goes out to kill the people that were in his class at school.
White chapel uses very different story lines. Which no other crime dramas use. I think that is why it is so popular. Unlike most british crime dramas you actually see some of the murders take place before the main characters no about them.
This program uses many of the typical conventions:
Flashbacks
Montages
Professions
Setting -london
Style - Gritty and quite grewsome

TV Crime Drama Review
White Chapel
White Chapel is a British crime drama which is based on the investigation of cereal killers and horrific crimes that took place along time ago, which are being copied by other people and happening in this day and age.
The crime that they are investigating in this episode is the poisoning and dismemberment of a girl young girl. this killing relates to killing and dismemberment of 4 girls in White Chapel these murders took place at around the same time as Jack The Ripper. because the bodies the dismembered and thrown in the river themes not all of the body parts were found, in fact none of the head were found so they could never be identified. the case they are investigating now is like this as the body was also found in the river.
White Chapel uses very good techniques to keep it realistic, which makes it better and more intense to watch.
they use dramatic music and camera angle to add effect and to get you more involved in the program. The m ain characters DI Chandler and DS mills are proper police officers on the right side of the law. DI Chandler is one of those people who is completely focused on his work and has no time for anything else. Where as DS Mills has a family and has to deal with the everyday lif of a family and also has a child on the way. these characters are good because they are easy for people to relate to and views can form a relationship with these characters.

Crime Drama Review 06/02/2012
Hustle
The 'Hustle' is a very different crime drama as it show you how the criminals and police work but from the criminal's aspect.the show ' hustle' is about a group of very good con artists, coning criminals and giving them a taste of their own medicine.
Fridays episode was quite a complex episode but the enjoyment side of it makes it easier to watch and keeps you focused on the story line and what is happening.
it started off with 'Sean Kennedy' at a casino playing poker and winning but he won because he is famous for card counting. then the man chases him to get his money back, Sean gives him the £5000 worth of chips back , but then the man say he will buy the other £40,000 worth of chips off him for £20,000 and Sean agrees.what the man didn't realize is that the chips Sean Kennedy gave him were fake and cannot be cashed in. It turns out that the lady who spotted him was hired as part of the con. when the gang's friend suddenly suffers from a heart attack. the team find out that she has been the victim of a sham diet plan called 'Eat Yourself Slender'. The people behind this scam are Dean and Dana Deville a couple of glossy american con-artists who only care about and will do anything to get it. Mickey the gangs leader knows it is not easy to con a con merchant but but he knows every inch of he con world and know what they have to do for the con to be successful. he has to gain their trust and make them sure that the there is nothing dodgy going on then.
The plan for the con was to steal a piece of art work that they want and then once they have done that, to steel a medical drink that helps you lose 6 stone in 6 weeks. But Sean Kennedy gets arrested on suspicion that he stole the art piece so the team decide not to go along with the other half of the con. But the Devilles are determined to get this medical recipe so they do the theft them selves. They refuse to give Mickey the £250,000 he wants for planning the robbery, but what they didn't realize was that mickey attached a camera to Dana broach and have the whole robbery on film. so they have to give mickey the money.
The artwork is put back in the gallery but in a different place so that it looks like it has been misplaced, which means they cant charge Sean for the crime.
Crime dramas like 'Hustle' that are based on the criminal side of things are good as it shows you how these things are done and how criminals. people stereo type criminals as being dumb thief's with no GCSE's who just want to cause trouble. But to be a Con - Merchant you have to be very smart.
In the hustle 'gang' one of the main con artists is a woman which suggests that women are just as good criminals as men and that you should be careful who you deal with as you never tell who is a criminal.
This program does use the conventions of a typical crime drama like:

Pitching Ideas for A New Crime Drama
Name: The Village
Type of Crime Drama:
It is going to use the investigative mind of Sherlock, set in the cosy rural location like Midsummer Murders but with a mix of the desorbing violent sequences of Luther.
Characters:
Duo : DI Andy Richards and DI Andy Walker.
Funny Detectives, sarcastic , unlikely, rude , they are both very intelligent but don’t care about anything.
Funny Detectives, sarcastic , unlikely, rude , they are both very intelligent but don’t care about anything.
DI Andy walker DI Andy Richards
Structure of Show
Series: Each Episode is self contained (CSI, Sherlock)
Typical Narrative
The two detectives work together not solve the crimes of the village serial killer. They are very smart and solve all the crime with their heads, they gather all the evidence and interview everyone and then work out how the crime took place and who done it right at the last minute. They are quite rude to people and are very sarcastic. The plot is restrictive and you find out the information when the characters find out. The think they are the most amazing action cops but they aren’t. they always have a laugh with each and talk about boyish stuff.
Setting
A little village in the Countryside.
Style
Humorous, intelligent, witty and rude.
Scheduling
Channel 4 - Thursday - 9:30pm post water shed as it has scenes that are not appropriate for children.
Target Audience
Young Adults, men and women.
Similar Shows: Which could be comparable?
Hot Fuzz, Luther, Sherlock, Midsummer Murders
USP: What makes your drama different?
There is no other crime drama like it, it is totally unique. It appeals to a younger adult audience. It has a mix of different crime drama together.
